Sometimes less is more!

Today's post is not nail polish related, but it's something I wanted to share with you guys! Let me first just say, I am definitely no expert on hair or hair products WHATSOEVER. But, I recently was struggling with what worked for me and found some products that I really like and so I just wanted to share my opinions.

About six months ago I decided that I should try a high end brand of Shampoo and Conditioner. I have a few friends that swear by high end hair products and they have great hair. So I thought to myself that I would just bite the bullet and pay extra for some "good" shampoo and conditioner.

I put good in quotations because after all these months of trying different brands and, in my opinion, wasting my money, I have found that my hair feels and looks best after using drugstore brand shampoos and conditioners.

Now, let me be more specific. The first high end products I tried were Redken. I used the blonde glam shampoo and conditioner. I acutally didn't hate these products, but they were just ok in my opinion and not worth their hefty price tags.

Then, I moved onto Paul Mitchell. I tried the Shampoo One and the Conditioner Original. These products dried my scalp out SO bad. It also made my hair feel really dry. Now, I realize that maybe had I tried a different product that Paul Mitchell offered, then I may have found one that I liked. But, again, at about $15 a bottle I wasn't into trying a whole bunch of products.

Lastly, I tried Joico. I bought the daily care shampoo and conditioner. These were the worst between the three brands. The conditioner did absolutely nothing and the shampoo didn't even make a nice lather while in the shower. Like I said with the Paul Mitchell products, I probably could have kept trying and found the one right for me, but I was just entirely sick of what I felt was flushing my money down the toilet.

After months of trying all of these products my hair felt dry and frizzy. This was just not normal for me, I've always had relatively soft hair even though it's thick.

So, what did I do?? Went back to drugstore and let me tell you, my hair feels amazing and I couldn't be happier! Now I'm saving tons of money and my hair is back to normal if not better than it used to be.

My new regimen is to switch between Tresemme Moisture Rich shampoo and conditioner and the new Suave Keratin Infusion color care shampoo and conditioner. Don't ask me why I switch between both, I just seem to use whatever I feel like on a certain day lol I'm weird like that.

Hopefully most of you guys aren't thinking I'm crazy for saying that I don't like high end hair products, but my goal for this post was to share my experience and maybe help someone out there that is having hair troubles as well!

What are some of your favorite brands?? Is there some miracle product out there that you think I should try?? Let me know!

Busy, Busy!

I have two tests this week in school so I apologize for my lack of posting :(
Until about May my posts on here probably won't be very steady...I'll just post when I have time!

I've had a chance to use two of the OPIs that I received here! I am really loving these colors. I just love how soft they look and the glitter is awesome.

This is four coats of My Pointe Exactly with one coat of Pirouette My Whistle on top.

Let me tell you, I have been so obsessed with Pirouette My Whistle!! It is so unique...the hex glitters are like this milky/silvery type color and its just so cool.

This is four coats of Don't Touch My Tutu! with one coat of Pirouette My Whistle on top.

The glitter over Don't touch my tutu doesn't stand out as much as it does over the gray one, but it still creates a really pretty effect.

So far I am not disappointed by this collection! Even though they take quite a few coats, dry time between coats is pretty fast so it hasn't been bothering me.

Even if you hate softshades with a passion, at least give Pirouette My Whistle a try...I feel like it's a must have!!!

Is anyone else loving these OPIs like I am?!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to anyone that celebrates it! For me, it's just a day to get together and have fun with my family! I did some themed nails to show you guys today AND it's my first attempt at water marbling!!!

I only water marbled my ring fingers as accent nails because I figured it'd be wayyyy too time consuming to do every single nail. The polishes I used were: OPI Do you lilac it?, OPI Mod about you, China Glaze For Audrey, China Glaze Re-fresh mint, and then I topped everything off with China Glaze Fairy Dust.

I like how this accent nail (above) turned out the best!

I really love this manicure! It's so colorful and fun!

Even though I liked how these nails turned out, water marbling is no joke lol It was time consuming and VERY messy. I will definitely sit down and try it again sometime, though, because I want to get good at it and maybe do all ten fingers!

Del Sol!

My cousin Tyler and his wife, Sara, recently went on a cruise and when they got back Sara texted me and told me she got me a nail polish that changed colors in the sun! I instantly knew she was talking about Del Sol. I was really excited because I have only ever owned one Del Sol polish and I've been wanting to try more. So, now that I own two, I swatched them both to share with all of you.

Unfortunately, right after I got done painting my nails, I freaking realized that the sun wasn't out. So, I won't be able to show you how they change in this post...I'll have to do another post sometime when I get the chance on an actual SUNNY day lol.

Here's the one Sara picked out for me! It's called Foxy, isn't it such a pretty pink?! This is actually four coats, it went on sheer, but it dried pretty quickly between coats so I really didn't care about having to do four. In the sun, this one is supposed to change to purple.

Here's the one that I owned previously...my grandma actually bought it for me on a cruise also! It's called Electrick. This one was four coats also, but again dry time was quick. The only thing I dont like about this polish is that the brush strokes show terribly. However, I really dont notice them unless I see my nails super up-close like in this picture. In the sun, this one is supposed to change to green.

Here are the stickers on top of the bottles that show you what they change to!

Hopefully I can swatch these again soon to show you how they transform!

*I wrote this post a few days ago when it wasn't sunny and isn't it ironic that the day I'm actually posting it (today), its the most beautiful bright and sunny day out...and I'm stuck at school :(

Short, but sweet!

I just wanted to quickly show you guys the nail mail I've been anxiously waiting to use! About a week ago, I ordered the entire OPI NYC Ballet Collection! I don't think I have ever bought an entire collection before, but for some reason I really felt I needed this one. I've been loving soft shades lately, plus the glitter that comes with these is super unique, in my opinion, PLUS they're all jellies!

They were packaged really well, plus they got here really quickly!

L to R: Pirouette My Whistle, Barre My Soul, You Callin' Me A Lyre?, Care To Danse?, Don't Touch My Tutu!, and My Pointe Exactly

I can't freaking wait to try these polishes!

Electrify!

I still had on Rumba Romance from yesterday's post so I decided to try some layering with it before I took it off. I thought it'd go awesome with China Glaze Electrify!

This is one coat of Electrify over three coats of Sephora by OPI Rumba Romance.

For some reason the glitter looks chunky in this pic but it didn't look that way in real life.

I LOVED these paired together and I really love how the gold and red glitter complement each other!

Spreadin' the love Sundays!

I was sad that I missed this post last weekend so I made sure I had one put together for today!

Today I want to show some love to my oldest and best friend, Missy.  We have been best friends since we were in preschool. No matter how long we go without seeing each other, we both know we're always there for each other! As I also mentioned in my very first post she's the one who introduced me to this nail blogging world :)

When thinking of what reminded me of Missy, nail polish wise, I instantly thought of gold nail polish. Once when we were shopping she said to me, "I want to buy all the gold nail polishes in the world!" lol

So here are a few gold nail polishes I own that I thought she'd like :)

Orly Glitz. This two coats.

Sephora by OPI Rumba Romance. Three coats.

Hot Ticket Goldfinger. two coats.

Sally Hansen Gilty Pleasure (one of Missy's favs!). Two coats.

Milani Signature Gold. two coats.

Do any of you love gold nail polish? If so, tell me your favorites!
